Main Responsibilities 

UKTBI is responsible for system development and system service for the Core Services & Customer workstream area. It owns the admin of the core bank system IBIS as well as the maintenance of it. Cooperation with central IT also extends to cross border development and maintenance of the IBMi platform. The RPG developer is responsible for design and development of UK’s core banking system, UKBR. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Document requirements / user stories based on the solution architecture and business requirements
  • Ensuring development is carried out according to the Bank’s IT Development Process and follows the RPG code standards
  • Produce high quality, clean, testable and maintainable code
  • Lead/participate in Show and Tell sessions with business and technical stakeholders
  • Create training material / user guides for the application users
  • Troubleshoot and debug code/programs
  • Evaluate existing application to reprogram, update and add new Features
  • Understand business requirements and how they translate into the UKBR application
  • Collaborate with a team of IT professionals to set specifications for new UKBR development 
  • Writing high-quality code within deadlines
  • Develop technical documents and instructions to accurately represent application design and code

  • Proven experience as RPG developer 
    1. Thorough understanding of, and coding with, both “fixed” and “free format” RPG
    2. Ability to write efficient SQL, both standalone and embedded inside RPG code
    3. Modern coding techniques e.g. modules, service programs, activation groups etc
  • Experience in designing and building applications
  • In-depth knowledge of programming for IBMi operating system and platform using IBM Rational Developer.
  • Excellent understanding of software design and programming principles.
  • Experience in Agile methodologies
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving capability
  • Good understanding of the Bank’s Development Model
  • A desire to continually improve the service delivered to the business
  • Experience in Citrix server admin and vulnerability management will be appreciated
