Main Responsibilities
This is a senior architecture position in an organisation with broad and ambitious technology modernisation objectives and an opportunity to play a key part in its success.
Working within an architecture function comprising Enterprise, Solution, Data and Business architecture, the role includes cross-portfolio responsibilities providing direction and ensuring coherence across multiple workstreams, supporting the robust governance and oversight of the technology change portfolio, and helping to grow and mature a professional architecture practice.
The Enterprise Architect will report directly to the Head of Enterprise Architecture.
- Promote cross-portfolio architectural coherence across business and technical domains.
- Work closely with Architecture, Infrastructure and Security to provide thought leadership on the use of technologies and technical patterns.
- Work in a highly collaborative way with the Product, Digital, Technology peer functions on strategic planning and coordination of prioritised activities.
- Identify key architectural enablers and enterprise design decisions, such as technology selection and build vs buy decisions, supporting their prioritisation and resolution.
- Identify opportunities in architecture working practices, and drive continual improvements, to support improved quality and service.
- Support the development of the architecture repository including the structure and quality of contents covering the current landscape, architectural targets and transition states.
- Ongoing development of architecture principles, patterns and standards.
- Key participant in architecture governance forums and chairing as required.
- Promote coherence and provide technical leadership and guidance across the architecture community, including a focus on detail when required, supporting the resolution of architectural challenges, and the production of high quality architectural artefacts.
- Develop productive working relationships with architects from the wider Handelsbanken group organisation at various levels.
- Communicate architectural and technical concepts to peer groups and senior audiences.
- Act as delegate to Head of EA when required and represent architecture at forums and committees

- Broad experience of architecture practices across technology domains in highly resilient Financial Services environments with a high frequency of change.
- Technical background and experience to provide leadership, insights and support to the wider architecture community.
- Excellent knowledge of industry best practices and architectural patterns across technology domains including application, security, data, integration, infrastructure, and digital customer channels.
- Experience working in a multi-platform, hybrid environments, covering on-premises, cloud and SaaS, supporting in-house developed and purchased services.
- Experience of the selection and implementation of large-scale vendor products.
- Experience of architecture governance processes both as submitter and reviewer.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with broad experience of senior stakeholder management and interaction.
- The successful candidate will have previous experience in a senior architecture role.
- Computer science or equivalent degree preferred.
