Main Responsibilities 

  • Keep abreast of any changes to credit policy, collateral management policy and procedures, wider market or economic events and developments in the area of valuation that might impact our portfolio
  • Provide subject matter expertise, monitoring and analysis in relation to the implementation of regulatory and policy related instructions
  • Work with colleagues across UK Credit and other UK Departments to develop and enhance credit management information (MI) and reporting to increase visibility of actual and potential credit risks within the UK credit portfolio
  • Support the Local Credit Teams with additional analysis of valuation related credit risk MI (including watchlist and impairments)
  • Establish property valuation quality review procedures, to ensure the highest standards in property valuations conducted by the approved external valuers 
  • Perform property valuation quality reviews making sure they are well documented in line with agreed routines
  • Escalate and report findings of quality reviews to Credit Teams and Credit Oversight Committee and our stakeholders in Group
  • Undertake analysis of credit management activities such as annual reviews, control testing, insight sharing and portfolio/thematic reviews. Use these activities to support insight sharing and support training.
  • Co-ordination of activity to ensure consistency of activity across property valuation and assess effectiveness of key control processes
  • Oversight of operational implementation of instructions, including escalation to the Local Heads of Credit as necessary
  • Ensure that data quality is sufficient relating to property valuation information held on all systems to support integrity of reporting 
  • Review data submissions relating to property valuation reporting and management, including from internal and external audit and regulatory requests

Ideal Candidate

  • Be a Chartered Surveyor (RICS) with suitable academic qualifications and practical experience in most areas of surveying. With a particular knowledge of valuation work, and an interest in the property market
  • Need an understanding of the use of automated valuation models and property indices
  • Ideally, should have a diverse geographical knowledge across the UK with experience in the residential and commercial property sectors
  • A proactive and pragmatic working style and ability to work independently without supervision
  • Excellent interpersonal/communication skills in both written and spoken English
  • An analytical mind set with attention to detail and a methodical approach, together with a reasonable working knowledge of Word, Excel, and reasonable computer skills generally
