Role Overview
You will be joining the expanding UK Technology (UKT) team and will have responsibility for supporting Technology Resilience including IT Disaster Recovery (DR) activities for the UK Bank. You will be part of a team which takes overall responsibility for IT resilience and continuity across the Bank, working closely with the Business Continuity team.
You will be expected to own the DR programme and drive its development through continuous improvement. You will work with technical teams across UKT to ensure that DR solutions are adequate, in place, maintained and tested within policy requirements. You will schedule, develop and lead all technical DR exercises for the UK Bank and co-ordinate IT support for Group level DR testing.
You will work closely with the BCM team in the Bank to ensure Recovery Time Objectives and Recovery Point Objectives can be met. Any gaps are identified, addressed and reported. You will support the technical contingency planning arrangements for IT infrastructure in the event of an incident or crisis requiring either technical intervention and/or continuity of services.
Working alongside the Technology Resilience Manager, you will partner with other teams across UKT to ensure current and emerging resiliency requirements are understood, issues reported to the appropriate forums and agree next steps and timelines.
The ideal candidate will be from a technology background and will be a highly motivated individual with strong communication and analytical skills. Knowledge and experience of traditional hosting and public cloud hosting will be an advantage.
Main Responsibility
Key Responsibilities
- Own the IT Disaster Recovery programme, including scheduling, developing and leading all technical DR exercises for the UK Bank and co-ordinate IT support for Group level DR testing.
- Provide subject matter expertise on infrastructure resilience and recovery methodologies, taking into account resiliency best practice and industry standards.
- Contribute to the Bank's technology resilience strategy and roadmap, ensuring alignment with the Bank's overall business strategy.
- Contribute to the Technical Resilience Policy for the Bank and the reporting of compliance against the policy.
- Contribute to the design and development of a technology resiliency framework and controls aligned to Traditional, Cloud and Hybrid based architectures.
- Establish infrastructure resilience needs fit with the move to DevSecOps ways of working.
- Influence business and IT leadership to ensure integration of resiliency planning into new and or reengineered technology solutions.
- Ensure all required resiliency control requirements are being met as part of infrastructure design.
- Conduct technical resiliency assessments of Core Services and Business Applications (in the Cloud or on premises solutions).
- Validate technologies have appropriate recovery solutions and that Recovery Time Objectives and Recovery Point Objectives can successfully be achieved through infrastructure related DR testing.
- Input to technology resilience and continuity plans are developed to ensure the availability of the Bank's IT infrastructure and applications in the event of a disruption or disaster, including the development of DR plans, and inputting into business continuity plans and crisis management plans.
- Design and implementation of DR procedures for critical IT systems and applications.
- Support regular risk assessments to identify potential risks to the Bank's IT infrastructure and develop mitigation plans.
- Take part in regular tests of the IT resilience and continuity plans to ensure that they are effective, up-to-date, and meet regulatory requirements.
- Manage vendor relationships for infrastructure resilience and continuity solutions where needed, including negotiating contracts and service level agreements, including through an intra-group agreement.
- Collaborate with teams across the organization to promote a culture of resilience and provide training on infrastructure resilience best practices.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards, such as ISO 22301, ISO 27001, and GDPR.
The Ideal Candidate
Role Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in technology resilience, preferably in the banking or financial services sector.
- Significant experience of designing, organising, leading and reporting on DR tests.
- Experience of embedding frameworks and controls for technology resilience and continuity.
- Experience of managing stakeholders and contributing teams to ensure full commitment to technology resilience initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure and applications, including network architecture, database management, and cloud computing.
- Strong project management skills, especially in relation to technical DR exercises.
- Experience in Traditional, Cloud based, Core Infrastructure and Business Applications.
- Recent experience managing resilience when transitioning to an external Cloud provider model, including specific experience with Microsoft Azure, Amazon AWS or Google Cloud Compute.
- Relevant professional certifications, such as CBCP, MBCI, or ITIL, are desirable.
- Familiarity with industry standards and guidelines e.g. ISO 22301, ITIL etc.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to analyse, articulate and present complex issues clearly and concisely.
- Ability to build strong professional relationships at all levels of the organisation and represent Handelsbanken plc effectively.
