Role Overview
Handelsbanken plc’s Finance function is mainly based in London as well as across the various Districts in the UK. Finance function's responsibilities include responsibility for statutory accounting and reporting, technical accounting expertise, business control, financial control, tax issues, capital and liquidity planning and management.
The key stakeholders for the Finance team are UK Management, the UK Board, UK Audit Committee, Districts, Branches, Chief Branch Officer, Group Finance, Suppliers, external and internal auditors.
Finance is responsible for the monthly financial statements, accounting operations, accounts payable, Nostro reconciliations and the internal recharges, amongst other things.
The role of a Systems Accountant include in-depth involvement and regular engagement with the IT, Infrastructure and Systems side of the Bank.
The role is based in London with potential to flexible working arrangements, to be discussed based on individual circumstances.
Main Responsibility
Key Responsibilities
The jobholder’s key responsibilities include:
- provide technical financial support within the team and to other stakeholders, such as to projects and product owners;
- co-ordinate and develop the accounting system (in IBIS) and related financial processes to meet the requirements from a regulatory and business perspective;
- Participate in projects, recommending and managing the implementation of changes;
- Documentation of system processes and procedures;
- Ability to demonstrate IT and systems skills to streamline a process or task;
- Develop in-depth knowledge of Finance function’s processes and systems.
- Operates in line with the Bank's Risk Management framework (including sub-frameworks) and relevant risk and compliance policies and procedures, ensuring appropriate and timely escalation of any concerns to their line manager.

Role Requirements:
The job holder should:
- Have an excellent working knowledge of IBIS and Microsoft Office applications (essential);
- Be a team player with a good ability to work independently when required;
- Have strong attention to detail;
- Possess effective communication and interpersonal skills due to the level of contact with external and internal stakeholders;
- Be a problem solver and have a strong drive to move things forward;
- Be able to prioritise workload;
- Have a methodical approach and a keen understanding of IT (from either a technical or developer perspective) as the role has a high degree of interaction with the IT department;
- Ability to efficiently communicate with colleagues from different backgrounds, for example both Finance and IT departments;
- Have a university degree in Accounting (or equivalent) Or:
- Alternatively, AAT, ACA. ACCA or CIMA (or equivalent) qualified or about to complete is required.
