Job Introduction
A 12 month Fixed Term Contract opportunity has arise within our Credit Risk team; who are sat within 2LOD and provide independent oversight and risk management across the Bank’s principle risks i.e. credit, financial and operational risk.
The team are responsible for independent credit risk control, providing credit related governance, portfolio management, delivery of IRB programme and input into various Bank wide activities where credit subject matter expertise is required. Key strategic areas of activity include ICAAP, IRB and risk framework embedment. The breadth of the deliverables, coupled with the fact that processes and analytical capabilities are continuously being developed demands a flexible and collaborative approach from team members.
The role of Risk & Strategic Portfolio Manager will be taking a leading role in enhancing of the Bank’s portfolio management capabilities, working across the existing risk control function to develop portfolio oversight and analytics, working with our data and model development teams.
Please note there are no line management responsibilities / reportees for this role.
Main Responsibilities
- Lead the strategic development of credit portfolio management capability, including data analysis and insights, scenario analysis, oversight reporting and insight sharing. That includes:
- Leading and conducting data-led thematic reviews on identified or emerging risks as well as embedding improved data governance into daily work;
- Contribute to credit risk requirements during the development of new systems and databases as well as embedding the ones already launched within our credit risk monitoring capabilities;
- Embed IRB and IFRS 9 model outputs into the Bank’s portfolio MI;
- Provide portfolio oversight for the Bank’s portfolio and communicate insights to various management levels across the Bank.
- Provide insight to strategic objectives through the integration of IRB models in the bank.
- Actively promotes and ensures adherence to the Bank's Risk Management framework (including sub-frameworks) and relevant risk and compliance policies and procedures, ensuring timely and appropriate escalation of concerns to relevant senior stakeholders.

- Have relevant experience working in financial services, including solid understanding of credit lending processes, IRB models and regulation (CRR, EBA, PRA);
- Have a strong analytical background and good numerical skills;
- Hands on experience from one or more statistical data programmes such as SAS, SQL.
- Be able to demonstrate leadership skills and the ability to build cross functional teams.
- Be comfortable challenging and influencing stakeholders including senior management.
- Be proactive and able to act on their own initiative, delivering high quality outcomes.
- Have an ability to communicate, analyse, articulate and present complex issues clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing with excellent attention to detail.
