Role Summary
We are therefore looking for an QA Test Analyst, in support of our IT modernisation efforts, who will be required to drive forwards the end to end testing of key system developments. The role holder will be responsible for testing a catalogue of new features, working collaboratively with UK and Swedish development teams, whilst focusing on the timely delivery of agreed outcomes that meet both business and customer needs.
The successful candidate will have knowledge and experience in automation testing, as the Bank is looking to hire an accomplished Automation Test Analyst to assist with a business-critical organisation wide Digital Transformation programme.
Experience of test planning, the ability to develop a test strategy and test approach, particularly tailored to individual releases, will also be essential. As the UK Bank becomes accustomed to more agile ways of working, it is also important that the successful candidate is very familiar with agile concepts and has proven experience of one or more agile methodologies and /or frameworks. Digital solutions will need to be delivered iteratively and in a continuous, prioritised fashion, achieving optimum speed to market and value from the outset.
This is an exciting time for Handelsbanken UK, and this role presents a significant opportunity that will enable the chosen candidate to play a key part in the UK Bank’s digital transformation journey, whilst also making a real difference to the needs and experience of its customers. The role will sit in the ‘Build’ part of the UKT (UK –Technology) organisation (UKTB), under a new Quality Assurance department (UKTBT), which is headed up by a new Head of Quality Assurance.
About UKT (UK Technology)
UKT is responsible for delivering effective Information Technology, Data Management and Information & Cyber Security solutions to support our Head Offices and Branch network. As a function, we strive to remain focused, improve our agility, ensure greater operational resilience and improve the UK Bank’s ability to handle and use data.
Main Responsibility
- Collaborate with the digital or modernisation teams to understand the scope of the projects and help identify business requirements.
- Automation testing experience within Java and selenium
- Writing and executing test automation scripts.
- Maintain and optimise existing test automation frameworks whilst developing effective, and reusable ones.
- Test estimation, test planning, test designing and test progress reporting
- Experience working with CI CD tools like Jenkins/ bitbucket and related build deployment processes
- Perform manual testing of test cases as and when needed.
- Experience working in an Agile team
- Experience working in Agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban and contributing to the AGILE ceremonies
- Experience in all areas of the testing life cycle (systems testing, SIT, regression testing, UAT)
- Defect management
- Proven understanding of setting up test environments in highly complex technical environments
- Understanding of Non Functional testing so it can be included in the test planning
- Test risk management
- Ensuring software meets the requirements with proper quality standards.
- The role holder will:
- Responsible for creating detailed test artefacts such as Test strategies, Traceability matrix and Test completion reports
- Develop and maintain Automated/Manual Tests
- Conduct system integration, regression and acceptance testing and ensure testing is carried out according to the Bank’s standards
- Follow and suggest improvements to the QA process
- Responsible in providing test estimations, writing test scripts and maintaining regression packs

The Ideal Candidate
- Interest in joining a Banking organisation with a huge focus on Digital Change
- Experience working in core banking is highly regarded but not essential
- Experience working in Digital projects i.e., Online and Mobile Banking - Cloud based technology (desirable)
- Performance testing using Jmeter (desirable)
- Good time management skills and ability to meet targets and fulfil agreementsHands on Test automation skills, API and web automation experience.
- Experience in distributed version control systems (Bitbucket, Git...)
- Agile ways of working (essential) including at scale e.g. SAFe (desirable).
- Proficient in User Story authoring and defining suitable acceptance criteria.
- BDD/TDD practices.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- The ability to build effective networks with stakeholders, both internally and externally.
- Significant experience in QA role creating detailed test artefacts
- Tooling – Hands on experience working on JIRA (TM4J, X RAY, Zephr) and Confluence
- Strong SQL experience (database testing)
- End user experience testing would be beneficial
