Handelsbanken UK is embarking on a digital transformation program to enhance the customer experience through increased choice and flexibility around our digital channel proposition. Working closely with Group colleagues, the UK Bank will deliver an ambitious programme of work to the core online and mobile platforms that will afford improved functionality and a more seamless user experience.

We are therefore looking for an QA Test Analyst, in support of our legacy platforms and IT modernisation efforts who will be required to drive forwards the multi-level/multistage testing of key system developments. The role holder will be responsible for testing a catalogue of new features, working collaboratively with UK and Swedish development teams, whilst focusing on the timely delivery of agreed outcomes that meet both business and customer needs. 

The successful candidate will have knowledge and extensive experience in testing and test management, to enable high quality delivery of business-critical features for the bank. Experience of test planning, the ability to develop a test strategy and test approach, particularly tailored to individual releases, will also be essential. As the UK Bank becomes accustomed to more agile ways of working, it is also important that the successful candidate is very familiar with agile concepts and has proven experience of one or more agile methodologies and /or frameworks. Digital solutions will need to be delivered iteratively and in a continuous, prioritised fashion, achieving optimum speed to market and value from the outset. 

This is an exciting time for Handelsbanken UK, and this role presents a significant opportunity that will enable the chosen candidate to play a key part in the UK Bank’s digital transformation journey, whilst also making a real difference to the needs and experience of its customers. The role will sit in the ‘Build’ part of the UKT (UK –Technology) organisation (UKTB), under the Quality Assurance department (UKTBT).

Main Responsibilities 

  • Operates in line with the Bank's Risk Management framework (including sub-frameworks)     and relevant risk and compliance policies and procedures, ensuring appropriate and timely escalation of any concerns to their line manager. 
  • Collaborate with the core (IBIS) development team to understand the nature of disparate technical changes, to identify business risks, and to determine test scope. 
  • Understand and assess the adequacy of any core team technical testing and propose further risk mitigation.
  • Be able to impact assess technical changes on the business and across the entire Bank.
  • Provide test planning, test risk management, risk assessment and change triage without detriment to business requirements.
  • Perform testing of large-scale group policy changes that will affect the entire UK platform.
  • Perform data / database testing utilising Dynamic SQL, validating objects, interrogating database statistics and performing large scale data reconciliation.
  • Maintain and update SQL stored procedures.
  • Functional, Non-functional, Smoke, Regression and Exploratory testing using SQL.
  • Manual testing of programs / changes that are called via core ‘green screens’.
  • Create detailed test artefacts such as Test strategies, Traceability matrix and Test completion reports.
  • Develop and maintain Automated/Manual Tests.
  • Conduct System Integration, Regression and Acceptance testing and ensure testing is carried out according to Bank standards.
  • Follow and suggest improvements to the QA process.
  • Provide test estimations in addition to writing tests.   
  • Review and approving the testing of other workstream/project changes to EoD processes. 
  • Manage defect and resolution cycle

  • Significant experience in a QA role creating detailed test artefacts
  • Experience working in data testing role. ETL, Data Migration, reconciliation.
  • Longstanding database testing experience using SQL. 
  • Core UK banking (green screen) testing experience.
  • Understanding of IBMi technology and RPG coding (ideally).
  • Experience writing large scale SQL scripts and stored procedures to create Dynamic SQL. 
  • Test planning, strategy and approach.
  • Experience working in Agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban and contributing to the Agile ceremonies.
  • BDD/TDD practices.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills.
  • The ability to act with courage and integrity including appropriate challenge when necessary.
  • Be able to actively participate in team meetings and other test forums.
  • The ability to build effective networks with stakeholders, both internally and externally.
  • Tooling – Hands on experience working on JIRA (TM4J, X RAY) and Confluence
  • Cross–role experience (banking, analysis, development) is beneficial.
  • Act with due skill, care and diligence.
  • Be open and co-operative with the FCA, PRA and other regulators.
  • Pay due regard to the interests of customers and treat them fairly.
  • Observe proper standards of market conduct.
  • Act to deliver good outcomes for retail customers.
