Payment Operations Regulatory Compliance Officer

Job Introduction

The product ownership department acts as a conduit/channel that harmoniously coordinates other Handelsbanken plc specialists (e.g. product committee, compliance, risk, financial crime, finance etc.) and themselves to deliver high quality customer outcomes.   The department plays a vital role in the expansion of the UK product and service offering and is key to the expansion of our business in the UK.

The role of the Payment Operations Scheme & Regulatory Compliance Officer reports directly into the Head of Payment and Card Operations or the Deputy Head of Payment and Card Operations, working within a team of Payment and Card Operations officers in order to ensure that all Handelsbanken customer payments are sent/received accurately and all payment queries are investigated thoroughy and timely in accordance with payment scheme rules.  Due to the variety of the role you will have the opportunity to bulid lasting relationships across the Bank and deepen your knowledge of all our core systems.  As the Bank’s payment proposition develops to meet our changing customer demands the role of the Payment Operations Scheme & Regulatory Compliance Officer is expected to provide ongoing challenge and stimulation in a fast paced environment.

Main Responsibility

  • Creating and maintaining operational procedures to ensure compliance with payment scheme rules and payment regulation
  • Ensure amended and new scheme rules & regulations are implemented into procedures in a timely manner
  • Liaising with key internal/external stakeholders as required
  • Work closely with the product owners to understand and plan for product changes which may impact the operation.
  • Coach and mentor team members by sharing knowledge and expand the overall scheme compliance knowledge
  • Particiapte in regular audits of compliance with Chaps scheme rules throughout the attestation process and annual control testing
  • Follow up on any non-compliance issues relating to operational procedures, implementing changes to processes to become compliant
  • Provide support on projects which impact the operational process to ensure changes to processes are considered fully and where required changes are implemented and embedded in a controlled manner
  • Work with the team to implement process improvements and create efficiencies
  • Work with the team to ensure risks are identified and mitigated through robust controls as per the RCSA framework.
  • Work to tight deadlines whilst maintaining a high level of accuracy
  • Support and embed the Handelsbanken culture within the department
  • Perform other related duties such as underaking operational processes when required

The Ideal Candidate

  • Knowledge and experience of UK Payment Schemes i.e Faster Payments, BACS, Cheque & Credit clearing, Chaps, Mastercard and Visa
  • Knowledge of payment scheme rules and regulation would be an advantage.
  • Previous banking and payment operations experience is essential.
  • Good attention to detail and quick learning skills
  • Experience of writing procedures
  • An enthusiastic and dynamic self-starter
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills: able to interact and deal with queries in a professional manner.
  • Ability to thrive in a busy environment and work to tight deadlines
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage a number of tasks and display initiative
  • Team-player, able to maintain working relationships with a wide range of people
