Role Overview

The developer will support in-house developed .NET web and windows applications and a series of utilities enhancing third part application functionality. The 50/50 mix of issue-resolution and change/project work will involve working closely with the infrastructure team and the business in the analysis, requirements definition, design and implementation of solutions in an iterative development environment. Though the position will focus on Microsoft technologies the successful applicant may occasionally be asked to assist progression of other development requirements.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the division’s Microsoft Web and Windows applications which are spread across two domains, tasks including: 


Main Responsibilities

  • The design, build and modification of business-tier components, web applications, and database objects using C# / .NET Core / Web API / ASP.NET tech stack.

  • Support and troubleshooting of DEV, UAT and PROD environment development solutions, working closely with business teams and infrastructure in the timely resolution of critical issues.

  • Analysis, estimation, design and execution of system changes, including changes of significant scale, work spanning the full breadth of the development cycle from first concept to BAU.

  • Implementation of all aspects of a development solution including those relating to security, scalability, logging, monitoring, conformance to standards, quality (testing), management and future-proofing.

  • Close liaison with other IT teams, vendors and the business during the development lifecycle, liaison including initial analysis and estimation, solution advocacy, training, mentoring, and test-cycle input.

  • There is a strong desire to migrate some of the key ‘on-prem’ systems to Azure and hence the role presents an opportunity to work on this transition. Experience working on Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure/PAAS will be beneficial.

  • Significant development experience using C# .NET 
  • Familiarity with the ASP.NET framework, SQL Server and design/architectural patterns (e.g. Model-View-Controller (MVC) and architecture styles/APIs 
  • Relevant technical certifications (preferable)
  • Relevant University qualifications (preferable)
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and organisational skills
  • Excellent team-working skills (IT and the business)
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Ability to perform in a ‘small division’ environment
  • A ‘can do’ and ‘get it done’ attitude
  • Appreciation of / conformance to good development practices
