Job Introduction
Handelsbanken Finance function is mainly based in London as well as across the various Districts in the UK.
UK Finance department responsibilities include responsibility for statutory accounting and reporting, technical accounting expertise, business control, financial control, tax issues, capital and liquidity planning and management.
The key stakeholders for the UK Finance team are UK Management, the UK Board, UK Audit Committee, UK Districts, Branches, Chief Branch Office, Group Finance, Suppliers, external and internal auditors.
UK Finance Business Control are responsible for management reporting, insights, forecasting and dialogue to help support business performance. In order to bring an increased business, and investor relations, focus to the finance function, there is an expectation on the role to demonstrate an ability to develop an in-depth understanding of the development of the business performance and the Bank as a whole. The role responsibilities also include being able to work proactively on business development initiatives together with colleagues from other UK Finance departments.
The role will be based in London; hybrid working is available in line with the Bank’s hybrid working policy.
Main Responsibility
- Providing financial management reporting and investor relations-style information to key stakeholders; including Group, Management, Board, Districts, financial head office reports, statistical information and financial presentation material;
- Ensure the Handelsbanken steering system is maintained;
- Net Interest Income and Volumes Analysis and Insight;
- Internal capital cover distribution, analysis and pricing support;
- Provide insight and analysis on the banks cost base;
- Implementation of external and internal rates and support rate change committee and product owners with relevant MI;
- Proactively identify and drive initiatives to improve Business Development;
- Analysis of the balance sheet and income statement;
- Assist and work together with other UK Finance teams on specific business control tasks of interest as well as larger business development projects.
- The post holder will operate in line with the Bank's Risk Management framework (including sub-frameworks) and relevant risk and compliance policies and procedures, ensuring appropriate and timely escalation of any concerns to their line manager.
The Ideal Candidate
- Sound knowledge of business control, management reporting, financial planning, forecasting and analysis;
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel, Access and Power Point;
- Knowledge of relational database structures and query language (SQL) would be an advantage;
- Knowledge of building reports & dashboards using Tableau or Power BI would be an advantage
- Structured, logical approach to work and a strong sense of administrative order;
- Strong communication skills (both verbal and written), as well as highly analytical;
- Strong attention to detail.
