Handelsbanken is currently looking for a lawyer to join an established and collaborative team of lawyers on a fixed term contract of up to 12 months, supporting the provision of products to our customers.   The role covers a range of tasks including legal and regulatory matters, commercial issues and new and existing products and services (for example CCA facilities, regulated mortgages, unregulated lending and payments related products).  

Main Responsibilities 

  • advising on (i) consumer lending, including in particular CCA facilities, as well as regulated mortgage contracts and unregulated lending and (ii) banking products such as accounts, payments, internet banking and our app 
  • ensuring the Bank’s legal documentation for its products is drafted in accordance with the laws of England and Wales as well as in accordance with applicable regulations, such as COBS, MCOB and the PSRs
  • supporting Bank projects relevant to consumer lending and banking products 
  • identifying, reporting and managing legal risk

The role requires an understanding of banking law, regulations applicable to the relevant products and contract law, together with experience of banking practices. It also requires an ability to draft customer contracts and other customer documents.
 
The successful applicant must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills in both written and spoken English.  An integral part of the job will be to interact proactively and confidently with senior management and product owners and to take part in cross-bank projects.  
The successful applicant must:

  • be a qualified lawyer 
  • have an ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • possess strong attention to detail 
  • be able to openly communicate with a wide variety of stakeholders.
