Job Introduction
The Handelsbanken PLC IT department is responsible for the delivery, support and maintenance of Handelsbanken PLC’s Core Banking systems encompassing Platforming, Risk, Payments, Lending and Customer Data. The IBIS system is the current primary core banking system with over 2,700 users. It’s run on an IBMi platform and development is done in RPG and SQL.
The bank is currently on a journey to modernise away from the current core bank system IBIS and into a more modern core banking solution.
The IT department is currently requiring a system manager for IBIS and the IT Core Development team.
As system manager for the UK bank's core banking system, you will get the opportunity to enhance your leadership skills. Main Responsibility
The role will include, but is not limited to:
- Attends UK CAB, reviews and approves planned changes to the service (RFCs), sets and agrees maintenance windows, ensures changes are well planned and tested
- Identifies, prioritises, plans, implements and monitors improvement initiatives for the service e.g. those originating from customer feedback, post incident reports, analysis etc
- Defines, sets and implements the service strategy based on business and UKT requirements. Engages with key stakeholders to gather requirements
- Responsible for annual system wheel activity. Ensures regular system activities are performed and documented for audit purposes.
- Ensures service is adequately supported including a first line provision e.g. service desk and 2nd/3rd line specialist resolver teams (internal or external). Ensures support frameworks are in place and up to date
- Escalates high severity issues to the IMG, attends IMG calls and makes decisions and acts as SME relating to the service such as approving restorations activities, communications etc. Owns related Problem records and remediation activity
- Manages costs incurred, including Suppliers and Group. Manages charge back activity to the UK business e.g. the HITS charge. Reviews ongoing charging, fluctuations to cost (e.g. from Group, suppliers, new hardware, additional software licences etc.) notifying internal customers as required. Participates in financial planning and forecasting
- Responsible for efficiency of system controls. Oversees regular checks and reconciliations of controls and processes.
- Ensures service remains in compliance with internal governance frameworks and controls such as InfoSec control standards, global instructions etc. Responds to audits
- Receives, assesses and resolves day to day escalations relating to the service e.g. poor performance reported by an internal customer/LoB
The Ideal Candidate
- Able to work independently and have the ability to work on simultaneous tasks, with tight deadlines
- Well-developed analytical skills and are able to quickly adapt to complex environments.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in both written and spoken English
- Able to understand and communicate requirements from both an IT and business perspective.
- The ability to interact proactively and confidently with both IT and Business
- Previous experience of IT change management or system maintenance is preferred
- Previous experience of IBIS or RPG is advantageous but is not essential
- Previous experience of team leadership would be advantageous but is not essential
- Good understanding of the Bank’s global infrastructure is a bonus
