Head of Credit Risk Modelling - 12 month FTC

We have an opportunity for a 12 month fixed term contract  for Head of Credit Risk Modelling. This role is within the independent risk control function within the Bank and acts as the second line of defence (2LOD) and provides independent oversight and risk management across the Bank’s principle risks i.e. credit, financial and operational risk. 

The function is responsible for independent credit risk control, providing credit related governance, portfolio management, delivery of IRB programme and input into various Bank wide activities where credit subject matter expertise is required. 

Key strategic areas of activity include ICAAP, IRB and risk framework embedment. 

 

Main Responsibilities 

The successful applicant will take a leading role in developing further the Bank’s credit risk modelling capabilities. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to; 

  • Lead, manage, develop and coach an established team of risk professionals to oversee the development and monitoring of Credit Risk models.
  • Ensure model development documentation and associated reports are developed in accordance with internal standards
  • Provide subject matter expertise in all credit risk modelling activities that Credit Risk Control undertakes.
  • Provide inputs into the Bank’s model related regulatory self-assessments.
  • Support the Head of Credit Risk Control in model related presentations to Model Oversight Committee and Board Risk and Compliance Committee.
  • Present and answer questions from the regulator on the Bank’s credit risk modelling capabilities as part of the IRB application process.
  • Actively collaborating with, and supporting, the UK and Group functions to further develop and maintain positive collegiate relationships.
  • Champion the effective positive risk culture within the Handelsbanken culture, through role modelling, training and information dissemination.

  • Substantial relevant experience working in financial services, including development IRB models and solid understanding of IRB regulation (CRR, EBA, PRA);
  • have a strong analytical background and good numerical skills;
  • Hands on experience from one or more statistical data programmes such as SAS, SQL;
  • be able to demonstrate leadership skills and the ability to build cross functional teams; 
  • be passionate about supporting people develop; 
  • be comfortable challenging and influencing stakeholders including senior management; 
  • be able to balance risk and reward, being prepared to make a decision / recommendation; 
  • be proactive and able to act on their own initiative; 
  • deliver high quality outcomes; 
  • have an ability to communicate, analyse, articulate and present complex issues clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing;
