Handelsbanken’s Returners Programme is a six month paid return to work opportunity to support individuals looking to re-invest in their career, who have an aspiration to develop into a leadership role and have been out of the workplace for 18 months or more.

Through this programme, Handelsbanken hopes to create a pathway for passionate and dedicated professionals to re-enter the workplace within the branch network, to utilise their current skillset, develop new skills, and grow within a truly inclusive team environment.

The programme will commence on 11 September 2023.

Main Responsibility

The roles available as part of the returners programme will be for non-certified Corporate Banking Managers or Private Banking Managers, in a selection of branches across our London, South East and Surrey districts. 

The successful candidates will be responsible for the maintenance and development of a small corporate or private banking customer portfolio.

You will have responsibility for all aspects of the client relationships, including building relationships with existing, new and prospective customers.  

In addition to the work associated with your role, Handelsbanken will provide a full package of support including coaching, mentoring, leadership development, training to enhance technical skills, networking opportunities and general guidance to help support with re-entering the workplace.

There may also be the potential for a permanent offer of employment after successfully completing the six month programme.

The Ideal Candidate

This programme is open to anyone who is seeking to return to work after taking a career break, and wishes to reignite and refresh their financial services / banking sector experience in a structured and supportive environment.

  • Length of career break: minimum 18 months (this could mean you have not participated in any paid work, or you have chosen to work on a small-scale or self-employed basis to fit around other commitments)
  • Previous exposure within the financial services/banking sector
  • You may have previous exposure within a leadership, coaching or mentoring capacity or have aspirations to develop in this area.
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to build strong professional relationships at all levels
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A high level of integrity.

 

Your recruitment process  starts with an online application. If your application is successful we will invite you to attend an interview. 

There will be a two-stage interview process with a mix of virtual and face-to-face. The interviews will assess your fit with the Handelsbanken programme and our culture through competency/behavioural and leadership interview questions. Interviews will take place throughout May and June with offers confirmed by mid/end of June 2023.
