The opportunity 

This is an excellent opportunity to join and develop your financial risk analytics capabilities within the broader UK Risk function. The breadth of the deliverables and the fact that processes, modelling- and analytical capabilities are continuously being developed and improved demands a flexible and collaborative approach from team members to ensure solid team performance in cooperation with the business.

The Financial Risk Analyst is required to be self-motivated, have the natural ability to cooperate effectively across multiple teams and to manage workloads capably.   This position reports into the Head of Financial Risk and will be based in our London Head Office.

The Financial Risk Analyst is responsible for enhancing and maintaining the Bank’s Financial Risk reporting and analytics capabilities. They work closely with other groups within UK Risk and supports the broader Financial Risk department. 

Key responsibilities

  • Continuously improve the team’s reporting, automation and analytics capabilities within the Handelsbanken IT structure and further automate and enhance key risk reporting processes, in collaboration with Data & Modelling teams
  • Create analysis and insight into financial risk drivers and communicate those with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Share the responsibility for daily, weekly and monthly risk reporting operations with other members of the team
  • Complete in-cycle 2nd line reviews of relevant regulatory returns
  • Support other team members in reviewing key financial risk models, co-ordinating and collaborating on any required model changes with Handelsbanken Group and UK modelling teams as well as the Model Oversight Committee
  • Develop subject matter expertise in the management of financial risks to enable effective review and challenge of the first line of defence
  • Support the Financial Risk Managers/Senior Managers with project work as required
  • Operates in line with the Bank's Risk Management framework (including sub-frameworks) and relevant risk and compliances policies and procedures, ensuring appropriate and timely escalation of any concerns to their line manager

What we’re looking for

  • Have sound quantitative skills, for example comfortable with analysing datasets and understanding of simple statistical techniques
  • Have expertise and working experience in a programming language (e.g. Microsoft SQL Server, Python) or in a business intelligence tool (e.g. Tableau, Microsoft Power BI) and the willingness to quickly improve quantitative analytics skills on the job
  • Have the ability to communicate, analyse, articulate and present complex issues clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing
  • Have experience in the banking, consulting, auditing, insurance or a related industry
  • Ideally but not necessarily, have prior experience in treasury, treasury risk or similar departments
  • Have an attention to detail and an organised, yet flexible, approach to work
  • Have a hands-on, can-do mentality and is proactive and able to act on their own initiative
