The Systems Lead role is based in the Data and Analytics team within the Financial Crime Prevention (FCP) function in Manchester. The function is in the first line of defence for financial crime prevention within Handelsbanken UK, with responsibilities including anti-money laundering, counter terrorist financing, sanctions and fraud. This role covers the configuration, maintenance and ownership of key systems and related data within the FCP function, specifically operational case management and work flow systems.

Main Responsibilities 

  • Line management of a small team of system analysts, managing workload and prioritisation whilst providing support, guidance and mentoring in their day-to-day work
  • Supporting FCP system change and upgrade activities, for example undertaking impact assessments, capturing and documenting requirements, managing system configuration and carrying out testing
  • Assessing FCP systems and processes to identify opportunities for optimisation and efficiency savings, including assessment of potential new systems and technologies
  • Ensuring system design and configuration supports good data management and governance
  • Performing data management, analysis, MI and reporting tasks using data produced or captured by FCP systems
  • Actively promotes and ensures adherence to the Bank's Risk Management framework (including sub-frameworks) and relevant risk and compliance policies and procedures, ensuring timely and appropriate escalation of concerns to relevant senior stakeholders.

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and interpersonal) working with multiple technical and non-technical stakeholders with an ability to explain complex topics in understandable terms
  • Self-starter with an inquisitive and analytical mindset, able to work independently and act on their initiative 
  • Excels at interpreting non-technical users requirements and turning into valuable business insights while identifying opportunities for improvement
  • Ability to apply themselves to problem solving and analysing situations, delivering practical and compliant financial crime controls/solutions
  • Prior experience of manipulating and analysing varied and large data sets using data manipulation languages such as SQL, Python or similar would be advantageous
  • Understanding and experience of AML, KYC, Sanctions and/or Fraud within the UK regulatory environment would be advantageous
  • Experience developing data visualisation with BI tools such as Qlik, PowerBI or similar is desirable but not essential
