The role is in the Financial Crime Compliance Team ( Second Line of Defence/2LoD) who are responsible for the Financial Crime (FC) related system and controls. 2LoD FC Compliance own a number of the key risk frameworks, provide advice to the Business (1LoD), execute oversight/thematic reviews to ensure the right regulatory outcomes are being achieved and report on material FC risks to key governance committees. 

The role will report into the FC Monitoring and Reporting Manager, Monitoring and Reporting Team and be responsible for the execution of the Compliance Monitoring Plan covering Anti-Money Laundering / Counter Terrorist Financing; Financial Sanctions; Fraud; Tax Evasion and Anti Bribery & Corruption.  

A deep understanding of FC related policies/risks is essential to execute oversight reviews/support the Business. The role will enable a broad understanding of the Bank and its operations in the UK and will create an opportunity to build networks and develop relationships with key colleagues across both the UK (1LoD/2LoD) and Sweden (2LoD).

Main Responsibilities 

  • Support the Bank’s Senior Manager responsible (MLRO) for oversight of its compliance with the Regulators’ rules on systems and controls for prevention of Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing. Specifically in respect of CMP execution:-
  • Support FC Risk Manager to develop annual CMP, which covers all the Banks material risks across Anti Money Laundering/Terrorist Financing, Sanctions, Bribery & Corruption, Fraud and Tax Evasion.
  • Plan/document each oversight/thematic review to ensure scope is clear i.e. production of Terms of Reference ToR which includes testing approach, sample size and key areas to be tested etc.
  • Test that key processes are being executed/material risks are being managed in accordance with Policy and regulatory expectation
  • Agree factual accuracy with stakeholders and produce a report on any gaps identified (observations) with actions/timeline agreed too
  • Produce a high level summary of the completed review to share at Financial Crime Risk and Compliance Committee
  • Escalate to key stakeholders in both 1LoD and 2LoD where material observations are identified in a prompt manner
  • Work with stakeholders to ensure agreed actions are tracked and closed in a timely manner including a risk based approach to action closure validation
  • Support Compliance (or external consultants) who execute occasional FC oversight reviews on behalf of FC Compliance at key stages of the oversight life cycle e.g. complete teaching sessions if required, ToR, testing and reporting
  • Maintain a robust record of all oversight reviews completed
  • Operate in line with the Bank's Risk Management framework (including sub-frameworks) and relevant risk and compliance policies and procedures, ensuring appropriate and timely escalation of any concerns to their line manager.

  • A deep understanding of FC related processes and risks is essential
  • Experience of executing oversight/thematic reviews would be advantageous but is not a necessity
  • Ability to work well under pressure and manage high profile/time critical workload (effective prioritisation of workload and multi-task is essential)
  • Attention to detail and accuracy is essential
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Ability to build strong professional relationships at all levels and represent the Bank effectively 
  • Interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with impact with people at all levels 
  • Integrity and discretion
  • Seeks to continuously develop in order to enhance and acquire knowledge, skills and expertise 
  • Proactive self-starter who is able to work with minimal supervision
  • Competent using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook 
  • Experience of working within a 2LoD FC Team would be an advantage but not a necessity
  • A relevant FC qualification would be an advantage but not a necessity
