Digital Workplace Lead

Job Introduction

The Digital Workplace Lead (Technology) is a newly established role within our UK technology function.

Supporting a broader transformation initiative, the successful candidate will set the strategic direction and be responsible for the selection, deployment, adoption and operation of modern workplace technologies used by up to 3,000 users

By partnering with senior stakeholders across the business they will drive improvements in colleague communications, collaboration and automation through the use of technology. In the first instance this will include the roll-out of Group-wide Microsoft 365 within the UK bank, as well as introducing broader improvements in document management, video conferencing, case management, workflow approval and digital signing capabilities.

A hands-on technology leader, you will lead and growing the internal team, managing key vendors where appropriate and partnering with technology colleagues across the Handelsbanken Group to provide services on a Group-wide basis.

Prior experience as a “lead” of digital workplace services is essential with preference given to candidates with a background in financial services or a similar regulated industry.

Main Responsibility

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and direction for the Bank’s Digital Workplace technologies.
  • Define and secure buy-in to the digital; workplace technology strategy and target architecture.
  • Build the product roadmap. Collaborate with senior stakeholders across the business to understand pain points, influence departmental strategies and increase adoption through extension of digital workplace technologies, including email, document management, video conferencing, workflow and approval and digital signing
  • Own the design, development, and day to day operation of digital workplace technologies within the UK bank. Collaborate with colleagues on a Group wide basis to ensure high quality service is achieved by providing effective oversight, monitoring of key performance indicators and proactively seeking and responding to stakeholder feedback;
  • Define and embed the delivery method and engineering approach. Embed a culture of change and innovation, underpinned by agile design and development practices, which constructively challenges the status quo and encourages continuous improvement
  • Build, grow and manage the internal capabilities. Lead on all internal and external recruitment activities. Provide coaching to existing team members, focusing on the need to increasing technical excellence and ensure professional growth.
  • Appoint and manage the engagement of external technology suppliers involved in the delivery and operation of digital workplace services
  • Provide subject matter expertise and insight on digital and modern workplace trends and industry best practice. Maintain awareness of key technologies including Microsoft 365. Proactively promote and secure buy-in for the use of new technologies where relevant and business value-adding
  • Proactively identify and manage technology risks. Ensure compliance with architecture standards. Maintain awareness and ensure compliance with relevant customer, banking and material outsourcing regulation

The Ideal Candidate

Additional Skills

Demonstratable experience of;

  • Leading the development and / or delivery digital workplace technologies, preferably within a financial services setting
  • Developing the technology strategy and / or target architecture
  • Providing technical leadership to application engineering teams
  • Preferred experience of
  • Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint and office 365)
  • Case management, workflow and approval technologies
  • Document management
  • Excellent understanding of digital workplace industry trends and fundamentals
  • Ability to build positive and effective “influencing” relationships with stakeholders at all levels
  • Proven experience of managing impacts of significant scale change,
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Acts with maturity and professionalism at all times and is able to get the very most of programme team members
  • A desire to succeed and to continually improve the service delivered to customers.
