Data Architect (Master Data Management)

Job Introduction

As an MDM Architect, your primary responsibility will be to design and develop the architecture and integration solutions for Master Data Management (MDM), metadata and reference data systems within the organisation. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the accurate and consistent management of critical enterprise data across various systems and applications

Main Responsibility

Responsibilities:

1. Architecture Design: Design and develop the master data and metadata management architecture, including data models, data flows, integration patterns, and overall system structure. Collaborate with stakeholders, including business users, data analysts, and developers, to understand requirements and translate them into effective architectural solutions.

2. Integration Strategy: Develop integration strategies to seamlessly connect MDM systems with other enterprise applications and data sources. Identify and implement integration patterns and techniques, such as APIs, ETL processes, data replication, and real-time data synchronisation.

3. Data Modelling: Design logical and physical data models that capture the organization's master data requirements and ensure data consistency, integrity, and quality. Collaborate with data stewards and subject matter experts to define and enforce data governance standards and best practices.

4. System Configuration: Configure MDM systems and tools based on business requirements, including data elements, hierarchies, business rules, and workflows. Customise and extend the functionality of MDM platforms to meet specific data management needs.

5. Data Quality Management: Define data quality rules, metrics, and monitoring mechanisms to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of master data. Implement data profiling and cleansing processes to improve data quality across the organisation.  Contribute to data lineage initiatives

6. Security and Privacy: Design and implement security controls, access privileges, and data privacy measures within the MDM architecture. Ensure compliance with relevant data protection regulations and industry standards.

7. Performance Optimisation: Identify performance bottlenecks and optimise the MDM system for efficient data processing, storage, and retrieval. Conduct performance tuning, capacity planning, and scalability assessments to support growing data volumes and user demands.

8. Collaboration and Documentation: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, system administrators, and business analysts, to coordinate MDM integration efforts. Document architectural designs, technical specifications, deployment procedures, and operational guidelines.

9. Industry Trends and Best Practices: Stay up-to-date with emerging MDM technologies, industry trends, and best practices. Evaluate new tools and methodologies and make recommendations for their adoption to enhance the MDM architecture and integration landscape

The Ideal Candidate

-Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or extensive experience in financial services and technology industries.

- Proven experience as an MDM Architect or similar role, with expertise in designing and implementing MDM solutions in complex enterprise environments.

- Strong understanding of MDM  and metadata management concepts, principles, and best practices.

- Proficiency in data modelling, database design, and integration techniques.

- Familiarity with MDM tools and platforms, such as Informatica MDM, IBM InfoSphere MDM, or similar.

- Knowledge of data governance frameworks and data quality management principles.

- Experience with integration technologies, such as APIs, ETL, SOA, event driven architecture and messaging systems.

- Understanding of security and privacy requirements in data management.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
