An opportunity has arisen within our Bromsgrove Branch for a Corporate Banking Manager.

The post holder will be responsible for the maintenance and development of a corporate customer portfolio. They will be responsible for the winning and on-boarding of new customers via proactive and focused business development activities. 

You will have full responsibility for all aspects of client relationships including preparation of credit applications, balance sheet analysis, annual reviews, monitoring of management accounts, covenant compliance, profitability and ensuring our clients have full knowledge of the Bank’s banking services.

Main Responsibilities 

  • Responsible for the maintenance and development of a portfolio of corporate customers. Building relationships with customers and ensuring customer satisfaction through providing excellent customer service 
  • Identifying, meeting and winning prospective new customers/introducers by outlining how we work and what we can offer in terms of service and facilities. 
  • Demonstrating a sound understanding of, and an ability to work within, the Bank's Credit Policy. Interpret financial information provided by customers, evaluate lending propositions, assess & formulate risk ratings correctly and with integrity, and structure transactions, ensuring we select the right customers. Completion of credit applications including the appropriate use of the Bank's systems and annual reviews 
  • To develop a sound understanding of the local business market and maintain relationships with professional firms and business introducers. 
  • Preparation (where appropriate) and checking of customer documentation, maintaining customer’s files (including CDD/AML requirements); preparing annual reviews and making payments. Ensure processes are followed and data input correctly to minimise errors/service issues. 
  • Working with the rest of the Branch team to ensure the highest levels of (i) customer service, and (ii) Good Administrative Order are delivered, as well as working together to achieve the goals on the Branch Business Plan 
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the products offered by Handelsbanken and a good understanding of competitor products, relevant industry and market driven trends. 
  • Being able to demonstrate an ability to identify and offer customers on a needs basis, the appropriate Handelsbanken product/s, whilst also being able to communicate succinctly all the relevant features, benefits and risks. 
  • To communicate a clear message to Market as to what the Bank stands for and how we differentiate ourselves from both a perspective of culture and relationship banking offering.

  • Applicants with a proven track-record in corporate relationship and portfolio management are welcomed. The successful candidate will have understanding of the commercial lending and will take the initiative to drive their own performance. They will have demonstrable knowledge of the Bank’s suite of corporate products and a good understanding of competitor products, relevant industry and market driven trends. The applicant will take ownership of their portfolio and have strong business development capabilities.
  • The successful applicant will have the ability to build strong professional relationships at all levels and represent Handelsbanken effectively. There will be significant contact with customers and external professionals and effective interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal) are therefore essential.
  • The applicant must be a strong team player, flexible, proactive and conscientious and bring a positive attitude. The successful candidate will work with integrity and discretion and be able to work effectively under pressure. The successful candidate will have full appreciation of the need to provide and be able to deliver an exceptional level of service to existing and potential customers. They will have strong attention to detail and an organised approach to work, and will be able to demonstrate their ability to work with high levels of accuracy. 
  • Previous experience in dealing with lending documentation/security and AML/KYC procedures for  business customers/transactions would be advantageous. In order to successfully undertake this role, a high level of computer literacy (Microsoft Word and Excel) is essential. Training will be provided on additional internal IT systems.
