We are seeking a proactive and dynamic individual to join the second line compliance team, providing regulatory advice and support to the business, ensuring we meet our regulatory expectations.  
 
The role sits within the Compliance Advisory team and requires a deep understanding of the UK regulatory environment. You will work closely with first line business colleagues to interpret and implement regulatory changes and apply judgment in day to day advisory oversight activity. A strong understanding and ability to advise on key pieces of regulation, including Payment Services Regulation and BCOBS is required.  
 
Developing strong and meaningful relationships across the business at all levels, the role provides great opportunity to engage on a variety of key strategic change initiatives, ensuring day to day compliance of relevant regulatory and internal requirements are maintained. 

Main Responsibilities 

  • Viewed as the subject matter expert for all payment and core banking products for individual and corporate customers such as, payment accounts and deposit accounts. You will provide compliance advice, challenge and support to the first line of defense.
 
  • You will work closely with product owners throughout various stages of the product lifecycle. Providing advice and guidance on new and developing products, on-going monitoring and annual product reviews, ensuring a focus on delivering good outcomes for customers at all times. 
 
  • Build strong working relationships across the business, including 1LoD and Internal Audit, clearly and effectively engaging through verbal and written communications. 
 
  • Ability to produce high quality risk assessments and reports. Supporting the business through a variety of projects and change programs, including delivery of key regulatory initiatives as required. In addition, maintain robust oversight and monitoring of internal policy and procedure compliance
 
  • Operates in line with the Bank's Risk Management framework (including sub-frameworks) and relevant risk and compliance policies and procedures, ensuring appropriate and timely escalation of any concerns to their line manager.
 
  • Support the Compliance Manager and Head of Advisory in review and challenge / support of relevant governance committees papers. You will also deputize for the Compliance Manager where required.
 
  • A desire to develop and invest in your own personal development, with support from your line manager. 
 
  • Proactively look to build and maintain relationship with external industry bodies, remaining remaining up to speed on developing and future regulatory changes. Assist in the design and implementation of required risks and controls in a timely manner.

  • An ambitious and resilient individual with strong communication, reasoning and influencing skills (both written and verbal) are essential to develop and maintain strong working relationships.
  • A strong understanding of the UK regulations and rulebooks specifically in relation to payment services and accounts. Additional understanding of the European requirements that apply would be beneficial.
  • A sound knowledge of branch banking or experience from an appropriate regulatory law / compliance background would be beneficial.
  • Be able to demonstrate appropriate knowledge of a full range of banking products and functionality for Individual and Corporate products and process preferably with practical experience of sales process and documentation.
  • Sound judgement and strong decision making skills, based on the Bank’s core principles with the ability to see things through to resolution whilst taking ownership at all times.
  • Engage and build relationships with senior stakeholders and leadership teams.
  • Proactive with regards to ownership and oversight of emerging and existing risks.
  • An ability to self-manage, using own initiative without needing direction, remain motivated and lead by example.
  • Exceptionally strong focus on delivering timely and high quality customer service and advice
