Job Introduction
The UK Risk department is responsible for risk control within Handelsbanken plc ensuring there is a comprehensive and objective view of all risks in the Bank’s business operations, providing independent management assurance to the UK CEO that the business are identifying and managing its risks adequately.
The quantitative risk analysis team is responsible for the coordination of the yearly ICAAP, stress test framework and stress test execution across ICAAP, ILAAP and RRP, model support, quantitative risk analytics across all risk classes and Internal Ratings Based (IRB) implementation. The breadth of the deliverables and the fact that processes, modelling- and analytical capabilities are continuously being developed and improved demands a flexible and collaborative approach from team members to ensure solid team performance in coordination with the business.
This role will work within the IRB team to ensure that climate risk considerations are fully embedded across the Bank in alignment with regulatory requirements.
Main Responsibility
The successful applicant will work alongside existing team members.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to;
- Coordinate the climate risk plan implementation and track the deliverables to completion.
- Coordinate further embedment of climate and ESG risk considerations across the Risk Control team and the wider Bank.
- Lead the embedment of climate risk tolerance statements.
- Provide input to the annual climate and ESG thematic risk assessments.
- Perform climate change scenario analysis and support the expansion of the current climate modelling capabilities.
- Provide the climate risk input into the Bank’s Task Force for Climate Financial Disclosures (TCFD) report.
- Quarterly reporting on climate risk embedment progress to the Bank’s Management and Board Risk committees.
- Provide input to the wider sustainability work in the Bank, particularly when it comes to implementing the Bank’s ESG strategy.
- Support the sustainability team in the development of the Bank’s climate and ESG data capabilities.
- Support the embedment of climate risk in business planning and strategy.
- Perform horizon scanning around climate risk regulatory requirements and ensure coordination with the relevant stakeholders across the bank for the assessment of any new regulatory requirements. Tracking of the action plans to remediate identified gaps.
The Ideal Candidate
- Relevant experience working in financial services with previous experience in climate risk management;
- Knowledge of the evolving Climate and Sustainability risk, data and reporting landscape within the UK;
- Have strong analytical skills and good numerical skills;
- Experience with one or more statistical data programmes such as SAS, SQL is preferred but not a mandatory requirement;
- Be degree educated or equivalent,
- Be proactive and able to act on their own initiative;
- Deliver high quality outcomes;
- Be a strong team player;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to analyse, articulate and present complex issues clearly and concisely;
