Job Introduction
The Financial Risk team is the second line responsible for oversight of effective management of funding and liquidity, capital and market risks of Handelsbanken Plc, as well as overseeing Prudential risk.
This is an excellent opportunity to join and develop your financial risk analytics capabilities within the broader UK Risk function. The breadth of the deliverables and the fact that processes, modelling- and analytical capabilities are continuously being developed and improved demands a flexible and collaborative approach from team members to ensure solid team performance in cooperation with the business.
The Capital Risk Manager is required to be self-motivated, have the natural ability to cooperate effectively across multiple teams and to manage workloads capably. This position provisionally reports into the Head of Financial Risk and will be based in our London Head Office.
The Capital Risk Manager is responsible for 2nd line oversight, management and review of capital risks. They work closely with other groups within UK Risk and is supported by a shared pool of Financial Risk Analysts.
Main Responsibilities
- Effective review and challenge of the first line of defence for capital and balance sheet management.
- 2nd line review and challenge of: ICAAP and related processes, Basel 3.1 adoption and regulatory self-assessments
- Being knowledgeable of current and changing applicable regulatory expectations and requirements, provide guidance on points of interpretation and participating in industry advocacy as required.
- Oversight of 2nd line review and challenge of capital regulatory returns, including COREP and FINREP
- Oversight of the Regulatory Reporting Policy and review & assessment of its embedment across first and second lines
- Create analysis and insight into capital risk drivers and communicate these with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Support review and challenge of Annual Reports, Pillar 3 disclosures and Recovery and Resolution deliverables
- Support safeguarding of the Bank’s Risk Tolerance for capital measures
- Participate and present at applicable governance fora as required.
- Support broader Financial Risk projects as required.

- Have strong knowledge of European and UK banking regulation with respect to capital management, including Regulatory Reporting requirements.
- Have experience and understanding of ICAAP processes.
- Have an understanding of Risk Frameworks and approaches.
- Be experienced in preparing high quality analysis and presenting to senior stakeholders.
- Be able to work on their own initiative and enjoy the responsibility of delivering outcomes.
- Be proactive and evidence a strong ability to drive change.
- Excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills in both written and spoken English.
