CDD Officer (Close Care Team)

Job Introduction

This is an exciting opportunity to join and help to shape a recently established team that has been set up to Quality Assure Customer Due Diligence (CDD), with the overall aim of ensuring compliance with legislative and regulatory best practice, for the UK operations of the bank.

 

Main Responsibility

  • To undertake Assessment on both new to bank and existing CDD;
  • Ensure internal CDD/EDD requirements are adhered to and be able to clearly breakdown and communicate the instructions where there are gaps
  • Evaluate and escalate the development and enhancement of the banks instructions;
  • Communicate effectively to CDD colleagues, branch colleagues and regional compliance departments any issues raised from case checking to enable these to be resolved in a timely manner;
  • Ensure work flow management tools are completed accurately and fully to enable data to be extracted for MI Reporting
  • Identify any key risk areas and AML ‘red flags’ and escalate to management;
  • Support the development and continued improvement of the Quality Control process;
  • Perform ad-hoc duties delegated by Team Lead.
  • Specific HR elements that will be dealt with by the team:
  • PEP & RCA screening matches, queries, recommendations to approve / declassify
  • Completing assessments on full customer range who within the industry would be considered
  • Commercial/Corporate/Private banking individuals/Entities.
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of complex international structures
  • Escalating & liaising with MLRO where exceptions to retain or exit are required.
  • Ability to manage customer expectation through effective communication skills
  • Presenting Complex cases to Financial Crime Customer Committee to obtain approval to retain Risk Tolerance
  • High Risk Jurisdiction Payment Exceptions 
  • Operates in line with the Bank's Risk Management framework (including sub-frameworks) and relevant risk and compliance policies and procedures, ensuring appropriate and timely escalation of any concerns to their line manager.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Strong understanding and experience of AML, KYC, Sanctions, and banking products and the UK regulatory environment.
  • Ideally, relevant specialist FC qualifications: e.g. ICA Diploma in FC/AML, ACAMS
  • A demonstrable understanding of corporate structures and the ability to advise on KYC/CDD requirements both for direct clients and related/associated parties, including the ability to carry out risk assessments and recommendations.
  • Able to demonstrate a thorough understanding and application of simplified, standard and enhanced due diligence
    · Recognise when they are able to make individual decisions and when there is a need to escalate to the Team Manager and / or 2nd Line of Defence
  • Be proactive and collaborative to make relevant changes to policies, procedures and working practices and liaise with second line of defence where relevant
  • Flexible, adaptable and responds effectively to changing business needs
  • Excellent time management skills and able to prioritize workloads to meet agreed deadlines
  • A team player with a positive, supportive and engaged approach to change
  • Ability to apply themselves to problem solving and analysing situations, delivering practical and compliant financial crime controls/solutions adopting a risk based approach
