Job Introduction
An opportunity for a Business Intelligence Developer has arisen to join UK Analytics and Information Supply as a permanent role.
The successful candidate will develop controlled and defined data sets to deliver data from the new UK Data Warehouse, developing new reports, specifying report improvements and conducting further ad-hoc analysis, recommending solutions that will help deliver business insights aligned to strategic value and regulatory compliance. The BI Developer will be expected to work closely with both BI Analysts within the Data Analytics and Quality department and other functions, as well as supporting core build demands. A solid understanding of development techniques such as the full development life-cycle, using source control, TFS and Agile is required.
Main Responsibility
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- develop solutions using the full Microsoft Stack (SSRS, SSIS, SSAS, T-SQL) to extend the information supply from the UK Data Warehouse
- translate business needs to technical specifications
- design, build and deploy BI solutions (e.g. reporting tools)
- maintain and support data analytics platforms
- create tools to store data (e.g. OLAP cubes, data marts and analytic frameworks)
- conduct unit testing and troubleshooting
- evaluate and improve existing BI systems
- collaborate with teams to integrate systems
- develop and execute database queries and conduct analyses
- create visualizations and reports for requested projects
- develop and update technical documentation.
The Ideal Candidate
SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Analytical approach to work; varying ways to problem solve
- Self-starter, able to work autonomously and as part of a wider team
- Practical experience and an understanding of both Agile and Waterfall ways of working
- Experience of data discovery and data wrangling in SQL
- Skilled at developing dashboards and data visualisations in tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, Qlik etc
- Experience working within the Financial Services sector is also desirable
- Working understanding of statistical concepts eg anomalies and outlier identification
- Experience of key concepts of data modelling such as ERD’s, Physical/Logical/Conceptual etc
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to analyse, articulate and present complex issues clearly and concisely
- Ability to build strong professional relationships at all levels and represent Handelsbanken effectively
- Effective Stakeholder Management and able to effectively communicate to varying levels
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Attention to detail and an organised approach to work
- Desirable : experience of python/R or similar and ML/AI concepts
- Desirable : Experience working in cloud environments would be ideal but not essential
