At Handelsbanken UK, we are about to embark on an exciting Business Transformation, a cornerstone of which will be our IT modernisation journey.  The transformation will evolve and enhance our technology systems, processes, ways of working, services and channels. Underpinning this will be our unique, decentralised business model, branch focus and customer centric business strategy that allows us to fulfil our customer’s banking needs with a tailored service and a product portfolio that’s right for them. 

Within our IT modernisation Programme, the Modern Workplace initiative is set up to enhance our ways of working and improve our overall colleague experience. It’s within this area where we have identified the need for a Business Analyst to help support our ongoing initiatives. The successful candidate will be placed to help support the delivery of a new Document Management System within the Document Lifecycle Management team.

The successful candidate will be an experienced business analyst who possesses a broad toolkit relative to industry standard business analysis service offerings. Previous Financial Services experience is highly desirable however we would welcome applications from all candidates where they feel they meet the required criteria.  


Main Responsibilities 

  • Requirements engineering:  refine existing high-level requirements, used as part of a vendor-selection process, into technical solution requirements, suitable for development and implementation. This requirements work will also involve the elicitation, analysis and management of transitional requirements for the purpose of business-readiness activity 
  • Business case creation, feasibility study and solution evaluation: analysing and assessing risks and impacts of solution options, performing cost-benefit analysis and collaborating with a variety of stakeholders to achieve an investment decision
  • Strategy analysis: exploring and analysing current situations, internal and external strategic drivers, implementation strategies and identifying risks and impacts of a desired implementation approach
  • Process Design: ability to document both the AS-IS and TO-BE situations for relevant business domains 
  • Planning and monitoring deliverables: monitor and manage their own BA and wider project deliverables.  Escalate and manage risks and issues as they arise
  • Change Delivery: helping identify impacts to the Business, Processes, IT Systems and Organisational structure
  • Business readiness: planning and co-ordinating communications and training to support the Project implementation 
  • Collaborative working: active participant and contributor within the Modern Workplace team and wider BA community 
  • Stakeholder engagement and management, including owning stakeholder relationships where business analysis interaction is involved
  • Operates in line with the Bank's Risk Management framework (including sub-frameworks) and relevant risk and compliance policies and procedures, ensuring appropriate and timely escalation of any concerns to their line manager

  • Requirements definition and management: Experience defining the most appropriate requirements management life cycle methods and ensure the requirement can be traced in the design, build, test, tender and evaluation phases. Able to co-ordinate and review the prioritisation of requirements and engage in the negotiation of solutions to help meet project objectives
  • Business analysis planning and approach: Able to inform tactical decision making and help to define longer-term strategic plans. Experience recommending the approach to options analysis, feasibility assessment and operations, and can quantify potential business benefits. Ensure the proposed solution aligns with business goals and objectives, and business and user needs, and achieves the required outcomes and expected benefits
  • Investigation and problem analysis:  Experience in communicating clear definition of problem analysis and define the scope for business to overcome this. Able to clarify investment objectives and business benefits to be achieved by the change initiative and work closely with customers and stakeholders throughout the lifecycle of the business analysis work to ensure benefits are optimised and realised following implementation
  • Business process improvement: Experience supporting the implementation of proposed business improvements. Prior experience in using BPMN (the Bank’s standard in business modeling notation) is desirable
  • Feasibility assessment and business case development: Experience in defining the rationale for proposed business and IT change, generate, describe and evaluate the options to achieve the business requirement, and quantify and / or describe the investment objectives and predicted business outcomes
  • Agile working: Desirable prior experience working with agile principles and ceremonies.  Familiar with the expectations of an agile delivery environment. Familiar with epics, features and user stories, and are comfortable writing acceptance criteria. Able to work in close union with product owners and/or delivery managers to establish and maintain a product backlog, support prioritisation efforts and sprint planning, whilst working collaboratively.
