An opportunity has arisen within our Harrow Branch for a Branch Manager. The branch currently look after a good range of both corporate and private banking customers in a well-established local market. 

The new Branch Manager will combine people management with strategic leadership to drive the ongoing development of the branch, grow the business throughout the patch, ensure continued good administrative order and maximise the potential of the team. You will work collaboratively with colleagues across the District and wider Bank, contributing towards the long-term strategic success of the organisation.


Main Responsibilities 

  • People management, leadership, development, engagement and wellbeing of a team of Corporate and Private Banking account managers and Assistant banking managers.
  • Responsible for all aspects of the Branch operations including the Business plan process (The Wheel), business development, credit, operational risk, administration, financial control, culture (Our Way), recruitment, compliance and regulatory matters including adherence to the Bank’s instructions and training and competence procedures.
  • Identifying, meeting and winning prospective new customers/introducers by outlining how we work and what we can offer in terms of service and facilities.
  • Responsible for adherence to the Bank’s credit policy, including the Responsible Lending
  • Policy and Arrears & Repossessions Policy, instructions and guidelines, maintain oversight of all lending decisions in the branch and any collections and recovery process, to ensure customers are treated fairly
  • Operate within the secured and unsecured lending discretion as awarded by the District Head and Head of Credit, with the ability to delegate lending discretions to their account managers.
  • Work collaboratively with the District Mortgage Advice team
  • Grow and develop a branch’s profitability in a local market by providing effective business leadership in all stages of branch development and respecting the geographical area of operation for the branch.
  • Sound understanding of the local business market; maintain and develop relationships with individuals, professional firms and business introducers.

  • A senior manager and leader, with a strong business focus and successful track record
  • Experience successfully developing business with a solid knowledge of all relevant Private and Corporate Banking Products and Services
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills including negotiating and influencing others
  • Innovative with sound decision-making skills based on accurate and timely analysis
  • Proven people management and development skills including promoting diversity and inclusion and managing challenging Employee Relations matters
  • Ability to build strong professional relationships at all levels, with excellent communication skills
