Accounting and Reporting is the department responsible for the monthly financial statements, accounting operations, accounts payable, Nostro reconciliations and the internal recharges, amongst other things. 
 
The key stakeholders for the UKE team are UK Management, the UK Board, UK Audit Committee, Districts, Branches, Chief Branch Officer, Group Finance, Suppliers, external and internal auditors. 
 
In addition to the above, there is expectation on the Accounts Payable role to be adaptable when it comes to taking on other financial control and accounting tasks – in close dialogue with the UKE Department Heads and the Accounts Payable Team Leader.
 
Whilst the role reports to the Head of Accounting and Reporting, the day to day activities are managed by the Accounts Payable Team Leader. 
 
The role is based in London with potential to flexible working arrangements, to be discussed based on individual circumstances.


Main Responsibilities

The main responsibility for the accounts payable team is to manage the invoice ledgers and process business expenses for the Districts, Branches and UK Functions, but there is also be an expectation on the role to work together with other finance departments in order to expand the role and continue to develop by taking on certain accounting or financial control tasks.
 
The tasks for the job holder include but are not limited to:
  • accounts payable;
  • business expenses;
  • direct debits;
  • standing orders;
  • reconciliations; 
  • standardised accounting tasks;
  • standardised financial control tasks. 
 
The post holder will operate in line with the Bank's Risk Management framework (including sub-frameworks) and relevant risk and compliance policies and procedures, ensuring appropriate and timely escalation of any concerns to their line manager.

Ideal Candidate


  • Good working knowledge of Excel; 
  • Team player with a good ability to work independently when required;
  • High degree of accuracy;
  • Possess effective communication and interpersonal skills; 
  • Previous experience using the following systems is an advantage but not essential:
  • ELFU/Palette for handling invoices
  • IBIS for payments and other tasks
  • Experience working in an Accounts Payable or an Accounting department is an advantage, but not necessary; 
  • Partly or fully AAT qualified is an advantage, but not necessary.
